In 2012 Bill and I were approached by Soils for Life to be one of the first Case Study Participants of a new Soils for Life initiative for our farm Milgadara Young.

We were absolutely delighted to become part of this innovative way to inform and inspire farmers how they could transition from conventional farming practices to a more natural system, improving the well-being of their natural environment, increasing soil fertility, biodiversity, water retention and soil carbon sequestration.

For almost a decade, Soils for Life worked tirelessly to uncover and promote the stories of farmer innovators across the country.  In 2020 we were approached again by Soils for Life if we would like them to revisit and update the Milgadara Case Study, transforming it into an interwoven story supported by evidence about how the journey had changed Bill and I and how we had changed the land.

Our extensive Case Study has been updated using a robust, professional methodology by a team of ecologists, soil scientists, social scientists, and researchers. They provided evidence of how our land management had achieved an increase in productivity, environmental, economic, and social outcomes through regenerating soils and landscapes.

Bill and I hope that our Case Study motivates other farmers to move to a more natural system of regenerative farming.
