As 2024 draws to a close and the festive season approaches, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on your successes and learnings from this year. Life always provides us with enough highs to appreciate the lows and enough lows to remind us never to take the highs for granted. This mindset, I believe, is essential in farming.
My passion for soil health remains as strong as ever. Even after 22 years, I firmly believe that healthy, functioning soils are the cornerstone of sustainable farming, and their importance cannot be overstated.
That said, the marketplace for biological and regenerative products has become a bit overwhelming—like “a mosquito in a nudist colony.” With so many ideas and promises of a silver bullet, it can be challenging to know where to start and whom to trust. At YLAD Living Soils, we have always focused on providing high-quality education, service, and products to help you navigate this maze. I truly enjoy working with you to create customised programs tailored to your soil type, enterprise, weather patterns, and budget.
Not a day goes by that I don’t hear about the incredible results you’ve achieved, and that brings me the greatest joy. My vision, “heal the soils and help others,” remains steadfast. Future-focused soil management prioritises the role of microorganisms in building soil fertility, increasing carbon sequestration, and boosting water retention. These biological systems work symbiotically to reduce synthetic inputs, support biodiversity, and enhance productivity.
